What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
When you look in the mirror, does your smile fill you with confidence, knowing you look your best, or are you concerned that your teeth just aren’t what you would like them to be? At Dworkin Dental, we fulfill your dreams of having the perfect smile. You can rest assured that we will meet your cosmetic dental needs with our combination of expertise, artistic eye, and state-of-the-art techniques.
We correct many issues that leave you feeling less than confident in your smile, with cosmetic dentistry. Although a boost in confidence is a significant benefit to cosmetic dentistry, it is far from the only reason to consider improving your smile. Properly done, cosmetic dentistry improves your oral health. When teeth are straight, and gaps have been corrected, it is easier to adequately brush and floss your teeth. There is less room for bacteria and plaque to build up between the teeth, making your teeth less prone to decay, periodontal disease, and other common oral health problems.
Why should you consider Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is an investment in yourself and your future. The visual results are immediate, and long lasting. Some treatments continue to improve your smile for 10 years or more with appropriate dental care. Speak with your dentist about the longevity you can expect from the different treatment options available. We are knowledgeable about all aspects of cosmetic dentistry and happy to answer any questions you may have.
Some concerns we routinely address are:
Discolored teeth: Stains on teeth are caused by many different things. Drinking coffee, tea, soda, or red wine can stain your teeth, changing them from pearly white to a dull gray. At Dworkin Dental, we provide professional grade teeth whitening that is far superior to any over the counter option available.Safe for teeth and gums, professional whitening can whiten your teeth up to nine shades brighter in one visit. For teeth that are resistant to whitening, we offer veneers or bonding, depending on your needs.
Cracked, chipped, or broken teeth: depending on the type and severity of the damage to the teeth, treatments can be bonding, a veneer, or a dental cap or crown. Bonding is usually done in one visit and is minimally invasive. A tooth colored composite material is custom shaped and secured to your tooth after the dentist uses a gel to prepare the surface. Veneers are made out of porcelain and attached to the tooth surface after a thin layer of enamel is removed in order to have a secure fit. Porcelain veneers are extremely durable and stain resistant. For a severely damaged tooth, a dental cap or crown may be required. In this instance, additional treatment such as a root canal, may be necessary. The dentist will advise you at the time of your visit which treatment is best for your dental needs.
Crooked teeth: Invisalign is a popular option for correcting crooked teeth while giving you the flexibility of removing the treatment trays for eating, and activities such as playing sports. Invisalign’s clear trays are very discrete, and allow the wearer to achieve the results of traditional metal braces without the inconvenience or visual down side. The removable trays also ensure good oral hygiene practices are easy to maintain, unlike metal braces which often lead to less than optimal oral health due to the difficulty of brushing and flossing your teeth while in treatment.
Tooth replacement: For the loss of one tooth, several teeth, or a whole mouthful, dental implants are a great solution. At Dworkin Dental, we specialize in custom implants made to last a lifetime. The implants look and feel like natural teeth, only you and your dentist will know they are not. The abutment or post of the implant is constructed out of titanium, the tooth portion is made out of porcelain. The porcelain gives the implant tooth a realistic appearance. They are sturdy and stain resistant. The care is similar to the care of natural teeth, brush twice a day along with daily flossing.
