All-on-4® dental implants are a tooth replacement system for lost or missing teeth in situations where one has lost or damaged multiple teeth. The process is called All-on-4 because it involves fitting our dental implants to support a bridge that holds together all the teeth on the upper or lower jaw.
At Dworkin Dental, we will conduct a detailed exam of your teeth to establish whether you are a preferred candidate for the All-on-4 system.
The first step in the process is a dental consultation and exam. This will include a detailed review of the patient medical history and dental health. It also involves physical oral exams and scans like X-rays and 3D imaging to determine the extent of the damage. Using this information, our dentists in Milford, CT will decide whether a patient is eligible for the procedure.
If the patient is ready, then measurements are taken of the upper and lower jaws. These include the height of the natural gum lines, bite impression, and the extent of underbite or overbite. These are used to create the components of the replacement teeth used in the All-on-4 implant.
The next stage is the actual surgical step. Based on the measurements made earlier, our dentists will measure and mark the natural distance between the top and bottom jaws of the patient to ensure that this distance is maintained at the end of the procedure. After the patient is sedated, the actual surgery begins. Any damaged teeth or gum tissue is removed before the dental implants are placed.
After the placement of the implants, the dentists will allow a few weeks for the area to heal before placing abutments that act as support for the replacement tooth prosthesis. After this, the replacement teeth are bonded to the abutments. The dentists carefully ensure the contact points for the upper and lower jaws are maintained as they should be.
